FAQs
Q. What is the minimum number of people required to reserve a retreat at Camp Olympia?
A. Due to the size of our facility, we require a minimum of 75 people to reserve a retreat. There are occasions where we can accommodate a second smaller group. Contact us our Retreats Account Manager with any questions at [email protected] or via phone 936-594-2541.
Q. Are meals available?
A. Yes. We have an on-site, full-service chow hall staff that prepares all of our meals. We are available to prepare meals from Dinner Friday night through Lunch on Sunday. Meals may be selected from our menu the week prior to your arrival. The number of meals you choose is reflected on your price. Our kitchen facilities are not available for use by the group.
Q. What are the accommodations?
A. There are 30 cabins containing 7, 8, 9 or 10 bunk beds, which equates to 14-20 beds per cabin (450 beds total). The cabins are grouped in clusters of either 2 or 4 cabins with a shared bathroom. Groups can choose which type of cabin clusters best meet their needs. Each cabin is equipped with air conditioning as well as heat for your comfort. Bathrooms are air-conditioned as well.
Q. What should I bring with me?
A. The most important items are bedding and toiletries. We do not provide linens for the beds or towels for the bathhouses. We also recommend bringing a flashlight, rain gear, water bottle, bug spray, and shower shoes.
Q. Does your facility have meeting areas?
A., The largest indoor, air-conditioned meeting area is called the “Top of the O’Dome”, with capacity for over 300 people along with Wi-Fi for Internet access, projector with a floor to ceiling screen, and wiring for multi-media presentations including a DVD player and satellite television. Portable sound equipment can also be arranged. Chairs and tables are available for use. Additionally, our newest cluster of cabins has 2 separate meeting areas to meet the needs of groups up to 50 people. Olympia’s chow hall and covered, open-air O’Dome provide additional meeting areas. Additionally, Olympia offers an outdoor chapel site that can seat over 300 people.
Q. Is Wireless Internet available?
A. Yes. We have wireless internet available at our O’Dome, our centrally located, two-story meeting facility.
Q. Do we have access to sound/ video equipment?
A. In the Top of the O’Dome, we have a DVD player and satellite television that are connected to a mounted HD projector. There is a floor to ceiling screen for viewing and theater-quality sound. This is ideal for movies or instructional films. If you would like access to portable sound equipment, please contact our Retreats Director.
Q. How old does a child have to be to participate in the activities?
A. We allow parents to choose whether or not their child is ready for an activity or not. Our general guidelines are 4 years old for activities such as horseback, challenge course, riflery and archery.
Q. Can parents participate in our activities?
A. Our program is designed to encourage parents and children to interact in the activities. Therefore, we allow our parents to participate alongside the children. The exception is horseback, where parents are encouraged to walk alongside their child’s horse.
Q. How much does a retreat cost?
A. Please contact our Retreats Account Manager for more details and our latest pricing information. Pricing depends on the number of people in the group, length of stay and number of meals.
