Camp Olympia guests are often treated to deer grazing in the mornings, spectacular sunsets over the lake in the evenings, and stunning star-filled skies at night. With scenic views of the lake or forest from each cluster of cabins, Olympia Retreats offers a weekend escape for each group.
In addition to enjoying the natural surroundings at Camp Olympia, groups of all types take pleasure in the variety of activities that Olympia Retreats offer. A playground for both adults and children, Olympia’s retreat facilities offers activities like horseback riding, archery, canoeing, jumping pillow and many more. Many groups like to challenge themselves on the high elements in our ropes course as well as practice teamwork on our low elements. Some of the newest attractions include the 2-person zip line at the ropes course, water-balloon battle station at the pool, and 9-hole mini golf course. These new, fun attractions are in addition to the newest, beautiful set of cabins with meeting space that overlook the baseball field and lake.

Camp Olympia’s History
Camp Olympia was established in 1968 by Chris Gilbert and Corby Robertson, Jr. while they were student-athletes at the University of Texas. Originally a summer camp for boys, Olympia has grown into a year-round facility with its Summer Camp for boys and girls ages 6-16, retreats and its own Outdoor Education Center. It is one of the largest camps of its kind in East Texas.
